OYC Safety and Education Committee

Come join our Committee!
OYC’s Safety and Education Committee meets every 4th Wednesday of the month, 5:30 to 7:00pm in the Main Station Clubhouse.

The purpose of the OYC Safety and Education Committee Mission is to promote safe recreational boating of its members and the greater South Sound Community and to strive to remedy unsafe conditions that may exist.  We seek to improve boating safety by education, including Beachcomber articles, workshops, trainings, voluntary vessel inspections, and promoting safe facilities at the Mainstation and Island Home.

Our Mission Statement is “Safety through education.”

The Safety and Education Committee is open to any OYC member in good standing who is willing and able to attend and participate in Committee meetings and promote recreational boating safety and education.  The Committee is Chaired by an OYC member in good standing appointed by the Board of Trustees.  The BOT shall also designate one of its members as liaison to the Safety and Education Committee.

The Committee identifies needed funding and makes those requests to the BOT.  Capital budget expenditures for facilities’ safety equipment and devices are coordinated with the House, Mainstation, and Island Home committees.
